Confidence.

Here is a topic that is closely tied to much of my soul path learning of late.

Confidence.

What is it?     How do you get it?      How do you show it?

According to the Oxford Dictionaries, confidence is:

The feeling or belief that one can have faith in or rely on someone or something.

When we’re talking about a PERSON’s confidence the definition says:

“A feeling of self-assurance arising from an appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities.”

Okay.

Then I want to break the word down into it’s parts.

Confide and -ence.

Confide is “Entrust something to (someone) in order for them to look after it.

and the suffix ‘ence’ from dictionary, com:indicating an action, state, condition, or quality.”

Interesting.

From our research then, Confidence broken down can mean

TRUST + A STATE OR QUALITY

When we think of “confidence” as a virtue, it’s portrayed by a certain type of person. They walk into a room with their head up, their chest is out, everyone’s looking at them.

Everyone wants to be confident, and

everyone is Attracted to confidence.

From first-hand experience, I know that confidence creates a bubble where nothing can phase you. If things go wrong, they don’t affect you. But a lack of confidence can create a void that seems to suck negativity in. And, likewise, a person who lacks confidence radiates that negative energy, where one who has confidence helps others to feel good about themselves regardless of the actions or non-actions of the recipient or the radiator.

Confidence can be communicated through speech, written word, or body language.

Each of these mediums can take different forms depending on our word choice. They can be timid or strong, apologetic or assertive. Words can sneakily hide the truth, or they can bring the truth to light.  Our word choice determines the confidence of our written and verbal communication.

Confidence is the state of trusting in yourself.

Confidence is the state of being someone who can be trusted.

It isn’t puffing out your chest when you walk in a room, anyone can do that. It’s not walking with your head up. While these changes in posture can make you feel and look more confident, that’s not all there is.

You want your confidence to grow?

Trust yourself. Don’t focus on failure. Don’t compete. Trust. Know that things don’t have to be perfect the first time, or anytime.

Be someone who others can trust. Don’t tell their secrets. Don’t talk about them behind their back.

More than that, allow others their imperfections as well.

Confidence is the state of being TRUST and confidence is beautiful.
